My intention with this design was to create a community-centered library aimed at accommodating all ages and needs. Based on my research, I designed this library for kids, teens, and adults to learn, create, and collaborate in an inspiring environment. I maintained the original facade to honor the historical firehouse architecture. To better integrate indoor and outdoor spaces, I implemented double glass doors on the Broom St. facade. For the O'Conner St. facade, I designed a balcony space on the second floor and an exterior staircase from the first floor. My goal for the interior was to create a sense of open movement while organizing a division of spaces based on age group and activity.
